Finding and receiving low mortgage rates can save the average homeowner hundreds of dollars per month in interest.  With mortgage rates fluctuating every day, having constant access to today’s mortgage rates is crucial and can save you a lot of money.  Luckily, there are many sources that can provide you with today’s mortgage rates.  This article focuses on ways to find today’s mortgage rates.

Newspaper

Most local newspapers have a finance section which gives current mortgage rates.  Getting mortgage rates from a newspaper is good because they will often show both national and local average mortgage rates.  The problem with getting today’s mortgage rates through the newspaper is that mortgage rates change by the minute, and the newspaper won’t be able to keep up.

Financial and Mortgage Websites

There are various reputable financial and mortgage websites, which are constantly updated, and will allow you to find today’s mortgage rates.  Some financial and mortgage websites will allow you to see the average mortgage rates given by various lending institutions, which allows you to compare the rates.  Keep in mind the rates posted are merely averages, and sway significantly based on each borrower’s qualifications.

Your Current Bank or Lender

The last option for finding today’s mortgage rates is to contact your current mortgage lender.  Your current mortgage lender will be able to give you what your lender’s current rates are, and since they already know a large amount of your financial information, they may be able to give you a more detailed mortgage rate.  Keep in mind that your lender won’t be able to give you an actual mortgage rate quote until they go through their full underwriting process.
